The Extreme Detail is an intensive exterior car detailing and multi-stage paint-correction service for vehicles with noticeable swirl marks, fine marring, haze, oxidation and reduced gloss.
The process combines thorough chemical and mechanical paint decontamination with a controlled cutting stage and a separate finishing-polish stage. This allows us to correct suitable defects before refining the paintwork to produce greater clarity, depth and gloss.
Once correction is complete, suitable paint protection is applied to enhance the finish and protect the freshly refined exterior.
An Extreme Detail goes substantially further than an ordinary car wash, maintenance detail or light single-stage polish. It is designed for paintwork requiring meaningful defect reduction rather than simple gloss enhancement.
The service uses carefully selected cutting pads and compounds to reduce suitable defects within the clear coat. A second polishing stage then refines the surface, removes compatible compounding haze and improves the clarity and gloss of the finish.
The combination of correction and refinement can produce a substantial visual improvement, but the process must remain within the safe limits of the vehicle’s paint system.
Every Extreme Detail begins with an assessment of the vehicle’s paintwork. Automotive paint systems differ in hardness, thickness, previous repair history and overall condition, so the same polishing combination is not appropriate for every vehicle.
We inspect the exterior for swirl marks, scratches, oxidation, sanding marks, previous refinishing and signs of clear-coat failure. Where appropriate, paint-depth measurements may help guide the correction strategy.
Test polishing allows us to select a suitable combination of machine, pad, compound and finishing polish before treating the remaining panels.
Before correction begins, the exterior must be thoroughly washed to remove loose dirt and ordinary road grime. Polishing contaminated paintwork could drag debris across the surface and introduce additional marring.
Glitz Detailing uses equipment carried in our purpose-built mobile detailing studio, including an onboard water filtration system.
Filtered water helps reduce the mineral residue that can remain on paintwork and glass after ordinary tap water evaporates.
After washing, suitable paintwork receives chemical decontamination to address compatible ferrous particles embedded in the exterior.
Iron contamination can originate from brake dust, rail transport, industrial fallout and ordinary road use. A dedicated iron-removal treatment reacts with suitable particles so they can be thoroughly rinsed from the surface.
We then perform mechanical clay-bar decontamination where appropriate.
Detailing clay lifts compatible bonded contamination that remains after washing and chemical treatment. This helps create a clean, smooth surface before machine correction begins.
The first machine-polishing stage uses a cutting pad and corrective compound selected for the vehicle’s paint system. This stage removes a controlled amount of damaged clear coat to reduce suitable swirl marks, fine scratches, marring, oxidation and other surface defects.
Although this is the more corrective stage, it should not be unnecessarily aggressive. The objective is to achieve meaningful improvement while preserving as much healthy clear coat as reasonably possible.
Pad, compound and machine selection may vary between panels because paint hardness, damage and previous repairs can differ across the same vehicle.
A corrective compound may leave light haze or polishing marks, particularly on softer or darker paintwork. The second stage uses a finer pad and finishing polish to refine the surface after correction.
This finishing stage improves paint clarity, depth and gloss while addressing suitable residue from the cutting process. It is this combination of correction followed by refinement that distinguishes the Extreme Detail from a single-stage paint-enhancement service.
Depending on the paint system and available clear-coat depth, an Extreme Detail may reduce the appearance of:
Results vary according to the depth of each defect, paint thickness, paint hardness and previous repairs.
Paint correction cannot safely remove every scratch or defect. Deep scratches that can be felt with a fingernail may extend through too much of the clear coat or into the colour layer beneath it.
Attempting to remove these defects completely could weaken or penetrate the clear coat. Clear-coat failure, stone chips, cracks, exposed primer and deep paint damage require repair rather than continued polishing.
Our priority is a substantial and responsible improvement—not removing excessive paint to pursue an unsafe or unrealistic result.
Once the cutting and finishing stages are complete, suitable exterior protection is applied to the refined paintwork. Protection enhances the finish, supports water beading and helps reduce direct exposure to ordinary environmental contamination.
The durability of the protection depends on the product selected, vehicle storage, weather exposure and subsequent washing methods.
Customers wanting more durable protection can consider a professional ceramic or graphene coating. Additional preparation, curing requirements, time and cost may apply.
| Service | Polishing process | Best suited to | Primary objective |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single Stage Detail | One stage using a finishing polish | Light swirl marks, mild haze and reduced gloss | Paint enhancement and gloss improvement |
| Extreme Detail | Corrective cutting stage followed by a finishing stage | More noticeable swirls, marring and suitable paint defects | Greater defect reduction, refinement and gloss |
The Extreme Detail may be suitable if your vehicle has visible swirl marks, fine marring or diminished gloss that cannot be adequately improved with a finishing polish alone.
It may also be appropriate for enthusiast vehicles, prestige cars, recently purchased used vehicles or cars being prepared for display, sale or long-term exterior protection.
Vehicles with light defects may achieve the desired result through a less intensive Single Stage Detail. Conversely, paint with deep damage, clear-coat failure or extensive previous repair work may require refinishing rather than further correction.
Glitz Detailing provides mobile Extreme Details at suitable Sydney homes and workplaces. Paint correction requires appropriate access, space, lighting and weather protection, so the proposed location must be assessed before the booking is confirmed.
Tell us about the vehicle’s age, condition, previous detailing work and the result you want to achieve. Clear photographs can help with an initial recommendation, but the final correction approach must be based on an in-person paint assessment.
