The Single Stage Detail is a professional exterior car detailing service designed to improve paint gloss and reduce the appearance of light swirl marks, haze and suitable minor imperfections.
After thoroughly washing and decontaminating the vehicle, we complete one machine-polishing stage using a finishing polish. This refines the paintwork and restores clarity without the additional correction stages required for more substantial paint defects.
A single-stage detail uses one machine-polishing process across suitable painted surfaces. The selected finishing polish combines light corrective ability with surface refinement, allowing us to improve gloss and reduce some superficial defects in a single stage.
The objective is not to remove every scratch. Instead, the service aims to produce a worthwhile overall improvement while preserving the vehicle’s clear coat. The achievable result depends on the paint system, its condition and the depth of the existing defects.
Machine polishing should not begin while bonded contamination remains on the exterior. Iron deposits, brake dust, industrial fallout and embedded road grime can interfere with the polishing process and affect the final result.
Before polishing, the vehicle is thoroughly washed and assessed. Suitable paintwork then receives chemical and mechanical decontamination as required.
Our chemical decontamination treatment targets suitable ferrous contamination embedded in the vehicle’s exterior.
A specialised iron-removal product reacts with compatible iron particles so they can be thoroughly rinsed from the paintwork. This helps prepare the exterior without relying on aggressive physical scrubbing.
We then perform mechanical clay-bar decontamination where appropriate.
Detailing clay lifts compatible bonded contamination remaining after the wash and chemical treatment. This creates a smoother surface and helps prevent embedded material from interfering with the polishing stage.
Once the paint has been cleaned and decontaminated, we complete a single machine-polishing stage using a finishing polish selected for the vehicle’s paintwork with our commercial-grade Buffing machines.
A finishing polish uses relatively fine abrasives to refine suitable clear coat, improve clarity and enhance gloss. It may also reduce the appearance of light swirls, wash marring, minor haze and superficial oxidation.
Paint systems vary in hardness, thickness and condition. We assess the vehicle and select an appropriate combination of polishing machine, pad and finishing polish to balance improvement with responsible clear-coat preservation.
Results vary between vehicles. Some marks may become less noticeable without being completely removed.
A finishing polish has limited corrective ability and is not intended for deep scratches, severe oxidation, sanding marks, widespread heavy swirling or clear-coat failure.
Defects that can be felt with a fingernail may extend beyond the safely correctable portion of the clear coat. Attempting to remove them completely could require an unsafe amount of paint removal. Our paint correction service is designed to remove deeper or uglier scratches.
Vehicles with more substantial defects may be better suited to a multi-stage paint-correction service such as Our Extreme Detail.
After polishing, we apply suitable paint protection to the prepared exterior. This enhances the refined finish, supports water beading and helps protect the paintwork from ordinary environmental exposure.
The longevity of the protection depends on the product selected, how the vehicle is stored, its exposure to weather and the washing methods used afterward.
Customers seeking more durable protection may consider a professional ceramic or graphene coating following appropriate preparation.
This service is suitable for vehicles that are generally in reasonable condition but have lost some of their original gloss through washing, outdoor exposure and ordinary use.
It offers a practical balance between a maintenance detail and more intensive paint correction. For many vehicles, a single finishing-polish stage can produce a noticeable improvement without the time and cost associated with multiple correction stages.
A Single Stage Detail can also improve a vehicle’s appearance before photography, inspection and sale. Refined, glossy paintwork can create a stronger first impression and allow the vehicle’s existing condition to present more effectively.
Detailing cannot guarantee a particular valuation, sale price or sale period. Its role is to improve presentation rather than conceal damage or misrepresent the vehicle’s condition.
A Single Stage Detail may be appropriate when:
If the vehicle has deep scratches, heavy oxidation or widespread defects, we may recommend a more intensive correction package after inspecting the paintwork.
Glitz Detailing brings a purpose-built mobile detailing studio to suitable homes and workplaces throughout our Sydney service areas.
Our mobile setup includes an onboard water filtration system. Filtered water helps reduce the mineral residue that can produce visible water spots on paintwork and glass.
Tell us about the condition of your paintwork and the result you want to achieve. Photographs can help with an initial recommendation, although the final polishing approach must be based on an assessment of the vehicle.
